Rigging
Rigging, to me, is fundamentally about trust and precision. Every knot, shackle, and line serves a specific purpose, and people's safety depends on it. I believe that effective rigging isn’t solely about strength; it requires an understanding of balance, load paths, and the narrative that the system creates on stage. Whether I’m flying scenery or securing a truss, I take pride in getting it right the first time and ensuring that everyone around me feels confident in the work being done.
I engineered and managed a custom double-purchase rigging system for an Ascension Tower in the show Cats, ensuring safe, precise, and visually seamless lifts for Grizabella.
For SpongeBob the Musical, I completed my first beam walk to dead-hang a set of legs from the building’s architectural steel. I established three rigging points per side to safely suspend the pipe, ensuring even weight distribution and secure support for the soft goods.
I built and installed the complex rigging for Argonautika, flying the ship’s mast into the architectural steel and coordinating Austrian-style sail systems for smooth, reliable movement throughout the show.
